2016 Mission to Nicaragua a Great Success!

2016 Nica group
First Presbyterian Church of Temple, Texas is committed to building partnerships and bringing clean, potable water to communities in rural Nicaragua to improve the health and well-being of their community and neighboring areas.  We are working in partnership with Living Waters for the World which trains and equips mission teams to share the gift of sustainable clean water.
           The FPC Mission Team 2016
In March 2015, our clean water team successfully installed a clean water system in the village of Las Lejas, Nicaragua. After the installation of the water system our medical team, in partnership with Accio Medica Cristiana (Christian Medical Action) visited 5 different communities, setting up clinics in schools, community centers and local homes while based at AMC's coffee cooperative, Santa Luz, in the Matagalpa region of Nicaragua.
In February 2016 our Living Waters and Medical Mission team traveled back to Ncaragua to the village of Los Chimbos to help install a clean water system, train the local operators, and provide hygiene education to members of the community. The system was installed in the local school, where students and teachers as well as their families, can now enjoy the benefits of safe water! We also provided medical care to people in four different communities in the area and scoped out potential sites for a new water system installation in 2017.

Meals on Wheels

Every Wednesday and Friday, seniors-in-need get a hot lunch cooked by dedicated volunteers.  Meals are prepared in the church kitchen and packed in insulated containers. More dedicated volunteers pick up the meals at the church and deliver them to the seniors.  Our volunteers come from all around the Temple area and from a variety of denominations. We welcome more volunteers so that we can expand our services. If you can cook or if you can spare about 30 minutes once or twice a month to drive, we would love to have you join our team! If you can't help with time, perhaps you could help with a donation. Every penny or your donation buys food for a needy senior. Donating is as easy as a click. See the donation button on the right.
